Germantown Forward
The Germantown Citizen Forum, on May 31, 2006 at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, was the kick-off event for resuming work on revising the 1989 Germantown Master Plan. A panel of community leaders led residents and business and government representatives in discussing Germantown issues and their desires for its future.
A Public Hearing Draft of the Germantown Forward Master Plan is currently available and the Planning Board Draft is being prepared. The draft plan creates a vision for mixed use communities served by the existing MARC commuter rail and the future Corridor Cities Transitway. New zoning tools and design guidelines will help new development and redevelopment in Germantown be walkable, sustainable, and linked to the history and cultural facilities of the community.
Worksessions with the Planning Board were completed on November 17, 2008. The Planning Board Draft of the Master Plan will be released in January 2009, and will be delivered to the County Executive and County Council. See What's New and the Calendar, below, for upcoming meetings, hearings and worksessions. A complete archive of Information from Previous Meetings can be found in the Germantown Forward Library.
