Zoning Code Rewrite

The Montgomery County Planning Board is undertaking a major revision of the county’s Zoning Code to make it simpler and easier to use. The revision involves:

  • An evaluation of the code to address organization, format, clarity, and inconsistencies and duplication
  • A comprehensive review of all zoning districts and an analysis of use and development standards
  • Considerations of new zoning schemes

Planners began the Zoning Code rewrite by reaching out to the public in a process intended to gain feedback on the code. Read our report detailing the results from our online survey and a series of small group sessions held to gather input on our planned rewrite of the Montgomery County zoning code.

Those who took part in small group sessions will be invited to workshops to help guide staff in what the rewrite should entail.
