Description: The Silver Spring Green Trail will connect the regional Sligo Creek Park Trail with downtown Silver Spring and the Capital Crescent Trail. The trail runs along Wayne Avenue and Second Avenue and is partially complete within the downtown area. It includes both a sidewalk and separate off-road bike path. The portion to be completed by the County runs from Cedar Avenue at the edge of downtown Silver Spring to the Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park Trail. Other portions of the trail are being completed as part of other public and private projects such as the Cameron Hills Townhouses, Fidler Lane Park, Discovery Communication Headquarters and Fresh Fields.

Construction on the portion of the trail from Cedar Street to Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park, was scheduled to begin in December 2005; however, construction has been delayed due to uncertainty regarding the alignment of the proposed Bi-County Transitway.
